What is next for AI?

Artificial intelligence has been around for a long time. So has the hype and the fear mongering. Should we be scared? No, but I think it deserves a serious look because there are some incredible benefits too. I am starting a series to focus on what it was built for: to help us improve efficiency, automate tedious tasks and optimize productivity.

I hope you had a chance to check out the previous blogs as they help to frame and understand what is coming next. You can find those here. Be forewarned, as soon as I write this blog, much will be out of date! New tools and new ways to integrate them are going to be introduced constantly! So how do we stay on top of this? I am going to split this blog into two sections. One is going to be how to research what is current, and the other will be bigger picture ideas that I believe will hold for a while.

Currently, money is defining where AI is going. The government is just starting to weigh in on this, so watching where large amounts of investment money is going will likely tell you more. That will trickle down into Apps and tools that you will see popping up on the news and mentioned around the dinner table. Don't ever feel bad if you haven't heard about the latest app! We’re all learning together.

Here’s where I suggest you spend your time and attention. It's important to figure out where you need the most help. Find out what is taking the most time in your office, or where you are having trouble finding good employees to backfill, or making the most errors. This will be anything that is not producing money or helping patients right?! (My previous blog of doing some digging in your business practices can help.) Hiring someone from the outside, like a management consultant, can also help identify where there are issues. A good dig through your financials is also a great place to start. Remember if you don't want your financials online or available to others, maybe do this on good ole paper with a pen or just within your financial or accounting software.

Once you have identified a sore point, go back to AI to help you define the problem, and see if there are any products out there that might help with that. Don't forget as you create your prompt, verify where it is getting its information…so important!

Or an even simpler solution? Work with us. Having a technology partner that can help ask questions, spot problems and identify technology solutions is what we do! Folks with a different perspective, whether a technology partner or a management consultant, can help you focus your time and resources wisely. We are uniquely suited to assist with AI applications and how to support your business in making the most of those tools. Give us a call and let’s do this together!

What’s on the horizon for AI? I am constantly on the look out for how we can save time or money in our businesses. Right now I am exploring and testing HIPAA compliant AI companions and note taking software. We will soon be able to recommend AI companions that are easier to integrate and I know that will be hugely beneficial to your business. Right now, there is a huge learning curve, so we are working on integrating those apps more seamlessly.

We could also be making use of apps like Gemini “Gems” or ChatGPT “GPTs”. They are predefined, pretrained assistants which typically can do one job very well. An example of this would be an app that creates an insurance claim or letter with very little input. But how can we make that easier so that the everyday person can use them? I think that will be coming next. Work with us to help craft a program unique to your office.

AI is great, until it isn't. AI has unlimited potential and possibility. However it is not set up for your office, your needs, or your business yet. Add in the potential risks to your business and security and it becomes a daunting task. Reach out to us to be your technology partner! Work with us to craft your plan to harness the power of AI. There will be much more to AI so stay tuned!
